ExxonMobil released a statement on Tuesday about the Baton Rouge business environment.
As part of that statement ExxonMobil said, “the ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Refinery and Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant will not pursue their sites’ pending 2017 Industrial Tax Exemption Program (ITEP) applications due to ongoing local uncertainty surrounding the program.”
Together Baton Rouge is responding to this decision on Wednesday afternoon at City Hall.
According to the nonprofit organization, “Together Baton Rouge will hold a press conference to address ExxonMobil’s recently-withdrawn requests for industrial tax exemptions.”
The press conference is taking place from 3:30 p.m. to 3:55 p.m.
Together Baton Rouge said it “will recognize the vital role ExxonMobil plays in the economy and community of Baton Rouge and propose a path for industry, business and civic leaders to work together to strengthen economic development in our community in the future.”
City Hall is located at 222 St Louis St.
