NEW ORLEANS, La. (BRPROUD) Le Petit Theatre, 616 St. Peter St., is concluding its 105th Season with Tarell Alvin McCraney’s Choir Boy.

Rescheduled from January 2022, the 2019 Tony Award nominee play is written by Tarell Alvin McCraney, who won the 2017 Academy Award for his adapted screenplay of the film Moonlight.

In the soaring, music-filled Choir Boy, the Charles R. Drew Prep School for Boys is dedicated to the creation of strong, ethical black men. Pharus wants nothing more than to take his rightful place as leader of the school’s legendary gospel choir. Can he find his way inside the hallowed halls of this institution if he sings in his own key?

Choir Boy is directed by Nicholas Ashe (“Queen Sugar”). Music Direction is by Clif St.Laurent. The cast includes Averis Anderson as Pharus, LeBaron Thorton, Jeffrey Lackey, Rosha Washington, Joshua Griffin, Vincent Banks and Nicholas Walker.

The show performs Thursday, June 23rd to Saturday, June 25th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 26th matinee at 3 p.m.

Tickets range in price from $35-65 for adults and $15 for students.
