Traffic chase ends with the capture of two burglary suspects in EBR

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of a reported burglary early Tuesday morning in the area of Meadow Brook Ave.

APSO says, “upon deputies arrival, they located a vehicle leaving the area, matching the description given.”

After an unsuccessful traffic stop, a chase ensued ending with the apprehension of two suspects named, Treveon Rome, 22, of Baton Rouge and Eric Mealey, 20, of Natchez, Mississippi.

APSO says, “as the investigation continued, it was learned the two suspects burglarized other vehicles in the Meadow Brook area prior to being arrested.”

Rome and Mealey ended up in the Ascension Parish Jail each are facing a long list of charges.

Rome is facing these charges:

  • Two counts attempted vehicle burglary
  • Vehicle burglary
  • Two counts criminal trespass
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of stolen things
  • Illegal carry of weapons
  • Possession of legend drugs

Mealey is facing these charges:

  • Two counts attempted vehicle burglary
  • Vehicle burglary
  • Two counts criminal trespass
  • Possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of stolen things
  • Illegal carry of weapons
  • Possession of legend drugs
  • Aggravated flight from officer
  • Reckless operation, roadway laned for traffic
  • Vehicle head lamps
  • Vehicle tail lamps
  • Driver must be licensed
  • Four counts failure to stop at stop signs
  • Seven counts must stop at red lights
  • Window tint

There is no known bond in this case right now.
