BAKER, La. (BRPROUD) – A member of the Baker Police Department was patrolling early Tuesday morning when it began to follow a Ford F150.
The truck was driven by 66-year-old Michael Tate and registered in Mississippi.
At some point, the truck turned on Wimbish Dr. without using a turn signal.
This led to a traffic stop around 2:10 a.m.
A pat down of Tate was done by a different officer at the scene.
During the search, the officer thought he felt a glass pipe.
A search of Tate’s pocket uncovered these items:
- Glass pipe
- Syringe will needle attached
The affidavit states that 2.13 grams of marijuana was found in a separate pocket.
Tate admitted that the pipe had meth residue on it.
Both officers then searched the truck and found a Ruger LCR .357 Magnum handgun, Mossberg .22LR and at least 19 syringes.
Tate was arrested and eventually booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
The 66-year-old is facing these charges:
- Turn Signal Required
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Possession of Schedule 2
- Illegal Carrying of Weapons with CDS
- Possession of Marijuana
At this time, no bond has been set for Michael Tate.
