Traffic stop leads to drug and weapon arrests

DONALDSONVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – Two individuals are facing multiple charges after a recent traffic stop.

On Sunday, September 27, deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle because it had an expired temporary tag.

APSO says the traffic stop took place in “the area of Marchand Drive and D. Thibaut Drive.”

There were two individuals in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.

APSO identified those individuals as Trevel Dunn, 28 and Max Batiste, 29.

During the traffic stop, deputies saw a handgun which later was found to be stolen.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, “a further search located a quantity of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and an additional handgun.”

Dunn was released on bond two days after his arrest and is facing these charges:

  • Expired plate
  • Registration required
  • Illegal possession of stolen firearm
  • Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
  • Illegal carry of weapons

Max Batiste was also arrested and remains in the Ascension Parish Jail.

Batiste is facing these charges:

  • Possession with intent to distribute marijuana
  • Possession with intent to distribute MDMA
  • Possession of a firearm by convicted felon
  • Drug paraphernalia and illegal carry of weapons
