LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – Two people were killed in a Monday afternoon crash in Livingston Parish, authorities say.

According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO), the double-fatality occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on LA Hwy 16, north of Sims Road.

LPSO says deputies were attempting to stop a male driver wanted for outstanding felony warrants. But instead of pulling over the driver allegedly led authorities on a pursuit before veering into oncoming traffic and colliding with a second vehicle.

Deputies have confirmed that the suspect’s two passengers are deceased and that authorities are in the process of contacting their family members.

LPSO adds that the man wanted for outstanding felony warrants has been injured as is the driver of the second vehicle he collided with.

According to LPSO, both individuals are undergoing treatment at local medical facilities.
