The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to a vacant house fire a little before 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30.
BRFD said firefighters arrived at 243 East Johnson St. two minutes after the call was made and found “fire coming from the side of the house.”
It took firefighters just seven minutes to put the fire out and the Baton Rouge Police Department and EMS assisted BRFD at the scene of the fire.
Seven total units, four pumpers and 1 ladder were used to extinguish the fire.
According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, the vacant home sustained $5,000 in damages and “received heavy fire and smoke damage.”
BRFD said fire investigators determined that “the cause of this vacant house fire” was arson.
