Two brand new tractors stolen from Many business


MANY, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) – Two men were charged in the theft of two brand new tractors estimated to cost $80,000 from a business in Many in September.

Stephan Morton, 38, of Shreveport and Michael Bayonne, 41, of Alexandria were charged with felony theft of the new “LS” brand tractors from Byles Tractor and Welding.

“Farming equipment can be very expensive and loss of such equipment can be a financial burden,” Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain said. “This crime is a felony and is taken very seriously.”

Prior to being charged in the tractor theft, both men were already at the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center on unrelated charges.

Morton has been moved to the Sabine Parish Detention Center with no bond set at this time. Morton has charges pending in other jurisdictions.

Bayonne is still at the Natchitoches Detention Center and also has charges pending in other jurisdictions. Bond is set at $10,000.

The stolen tractors have not been recovered at this time.
