Two people injured in overnight fire after jumping out of second story apartment

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to the scene of a blaze overnight at an apartment complex.

Firefighters arrived at the Bienville Towers Apartments and found “police tending to two people that had jumped out of the second story apartment.”

The two residents of the apartment suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, “Firefighters made entry into the apartment and found fire in the kitchen area.”

Firefighters extinguished the fire with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.

BRFD says firefighters were able to contain the fire and keep it from spreading outside the kitchen area.

The apartment complex sustained $225,000 in damages.

Investigators are working to determine what started the kitchen fire.

EMS, BRPD and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.

The Bienville Towers Apartments are located at 2100 College Dr.
