BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to an early morning blaze on Sycamore St.
When firefighters arrived at 5373 Sycamore St., the residence was “engulfed in flames.”
Thanks to a neighbor, two individuals in the home at the time of the fire were able to get out of the home without being hurt.
Firefighters went to work putting the fire out around 1:30 a.m.
It took a little over 20 minutes for firefighters to put the fire out.
Seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder were used by firefighters.
BRFD says, “the fire is believed to have started in or near an automobile parked next to the home.”
BRPD, EMS and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
The structure sustained $40,000 in damages along with “heavy fire, smoke and heat damage before being extinguished,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
Fire investigators are working to determine what caused the early morning fire.
