BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department was called to a reported fire a little after 2 a.m. on Monday, April 18.

The scene of the fire was Apt. 55 at Fleur Apartments which is located at 7626 Airline Hwy.

“Firefighters arrived on the scene to find the one occupant safe outside and heavy smoke coming from the apartment,” according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

BRFD went to work putting the fire out with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.

The fire was extinguished in a little over 15 minutes.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading outside of the kitchen.

Fire investigators concluded that the cause of the fire was accidental.

BRFD says the fire “was caused by an unattended pot on the stove.”

The apartment sustained $25,000 in damages.

BRPD and EMS assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
