New Year, New You! And if you have new goals to live a healthier life in 2020, there’s a new spot in mid-city just for you.
“We do gluten free, gluten free and vegan, we definitely cater to people with all types of food allergies” said owner Mary-Brennan Faucheux. “I have people who come in here who can’t have any gluten, can’t have any onions and so we work with any kind of health issues and can usually always create a dish for you” she said.
For the past few years, MJ’s has been a fixture inside Baton Rouge’s White Star Market. Now with their own storefront just off Government Street near Acadian, Faucheux is excited to give the city more options when it comes to green and healthy eating.
“We are definitely unique to Baton Rouge” Faucheaux said. “There’s no other sit-down restaurant that’s focusing on plant-based food. We take a lot of pride in what we do and we make the food really tasty” she said.
Not only is the food healthy and delicious, Faucheux is adding her own sense of uniqueness and style as a woman in business.
“The restaurant business is all predominately male owned but we’re trying to create a healthier Baton Rouge and we’re female too so that’s really cool for me” she said.
MJ’s Café is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. daily. Visit their website here.
