UPDATE: 16-year-old charged in Kissel Street murder

A 16-year-old has been arrested for the shooting death of 49-year-old Anthony Benton.

We’re told the motive for this shooting is still unclear and remains under investigation.

The juvenile suspect has been booked into East Baton Rouge Juvenile Detention on the following charges:

Second Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a Weapon.

ORIGINAL STORY: (9/7/18)

A 49-year-old man was shot and killed on Thursday evening in the the 7300 block of Kissel St.

BRPD said, Anthony Benton, of 5267 Ford St. “was found sitting in the driver seat of his vehicle around 5:30 p.m. yesterday evening.”

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, Benton had “multiple gunshot wounds” and was taken to a local hospital.

Benton died from the injuries he sustained in the shooting and anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.
