USS KIDD Veterans Museum reopens, receives $25,000 in grants

The USS KIDD Veterans Museum has officially reopened to the public following a two-month closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The museum also received two grants for a combined $25,000.

The museum received a $15,000 Louisiana Culture Care Fund grant from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act economic stabilization plan, according to the museum’s executive director, Rosehn Gipe.

The funds from the grant will help the museum with general operating costs and will support the reopening, Gipe wrote.

The museum was also awarded a $10,000 Tin Can Sailors grant to complete the gallery restoration project from the Thomas J. Peltin Destroyer Museum Grant Program.
