BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department received a call about a vacant house fire around 5:10 a.m. on Thursday, November 17.
The vacant home was located in the 1500 block of N 44th St.
BRFD said, “Firefighters arrived on the scene to find fire coming out of the side rear window of the vacant home.”
Firefighters immediately went to work getting the fire under control with the help of seven total units, four pumpers and one ladder.
The fire was brought under control in around 45 minutes.
The vacant home sustained $100,000 and is considered a total loss.
According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, “While the house is a total loss, they were able to keep the flames from spreading to neighboring homes.”
An investigator with the Baton Rouge Fire Department concluded that arson was the cause of the vacant house fire.
BRPD, EMS and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
