Vice President Mike Pence is making another trip to Louisiana, as Republicans make a push to get Eddie Rispne into the Governor’s
Vice President Pence will campaign for Rispone at a fundraising reception in Baton Rouge.
Source tells us the private event will be held at the Country Club of Louisiana.
Rispone has campaigned on being a political outsider, saying he wants to put an end to high taxes and deny incumbent John Bel Edwards
a second term.
Rispone’s campaign says the Vice President’s visit makes a powerful statement to others.
“Everything we’ve seen since the primary shows that republicans are really solidifying and collecting around outsider businessman Eddie Rispone and his message of making Louisiana work again,” Ameila Chasse Alcivar, Communications Director Republican Governor’s Association.
Democratic Challenger Governor John Bel Edwards says despite the VP’s visit, he will continue to put the people of Louisiana first.
“With the hyper-partisan environment of Washington D.C., it’s no surprise that Vice President Pence would support his party’s nominee. The voters of Louisiana know Gov. Edwards and they have seen him put Louisiana first, working across party lines to turn a $2 billion deficit into a surplus, raise teacher pay for the first time in a decade, and provide health care to 450,000 working Louisianans.
Voters support Gov. Edwards because they don’t want Louisiana to become Washington, D.C., they want a Governor that puts people over politics.”
