Victim identified in Memorial Day shooting on Addison St.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – On Monday, the Baton Rouge Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on Addison St.

26-year-old Dequincey Smith died after sustaining gunshot wounds.

The deadly shooting took place a little before 4:45 p.m. and “investigators believe that gunfire was shot by an unknown suspect(s) into a vehicle striking the operator.”

The operator was Smith and the 26-year-old left the scene in the vehicle.

BRPD says, Smith “crashed the vehicle in the 3100 block of Addison St.”

The local man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into this deadly shooting remains open.
