TRINITY, Fla. (WFLA) – It was the shock of a lifetime for Connor Farrell.
There was a certain something crawling and scratching under his car Thursday morning.
The St. Pete College student was at work in Trinity when it happened.
He’ll look twice next time before he walks out to his car.
It’s no secret that Pasco County has a lot of lakes and ponds, and you can guess what’s swimming around at any given time.
Alligators. Lots of them.
Sometimes, as Floridians know all too well, those gators wind up in the strangest places.
Like under your car.
Just ask Connor.
“You just don’t think it would happen to you,” the 18-year-old told WFLA. “Then, your boss comes and tells you, there’s a gator under your car, and you’re just at a loss for words!”
For this Tampa Bay area student, who grew up in Florida, seeing an alligator isn’t so shocking.
Seeing one waiting for you under your car?
Well, that’s a different story.
“Fishing around here, I’ve seen gators around here big and small. And, you know, you just want to keep your distance away from them,” he said.
Hard to keep your distance in this case when you’ve got to get in the driver’s seat.
The curious creature found a spot under Connor’s Saturn.
“It did walk away,” Connor explained. ‘It stayed around for about 15 minutes, then made it’s way back to the pond, and did what a gator would do.”
Connor did what any Floridian would do. He got video and pictures to prove it.
“I won’t be paranoid,” Connor told us with a wide grin. “I’m used to seeing gators around here, I’ll just keep an eye out!”
