BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — One of Louisiana’s franchises, Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux, announced Wednesday that its founder will transition from Chief Executive Officer to Chairman of the Board of Directors.

According to a news release, founder Brandon Landry has appointed Scott Taylor to the Chief Executive Officer role. Taylor has served as Walk-On’s President since 2010.

“Over the past 12 years, Scott and I have built a culture and team that is focused on delivering best-in-class support and results for our franchise partners,” said Landry. “He is the natural choice to assume the CEO reins as the brand enters its 20th year.”

“It has been an honor to work alongside such a passionate founder to build this incredible brand,” Taylor added. “I look forward to leading the continued growth of our team and franchise family, and bringing the Walk-On’s experience to more guests across the country.”

The restaurant began with two friends, Brandon Landry and Jack Warner. Both were “walk-ons” for the Louisiana State University (LSU) basketball team. They were inspired to open the restaurant after traveling with the team and visiting sports bars. Those visits gave them the idea to open a local sports bar near LSU. Shortly thereafter, on Sept. 9, 2003, the first Walk-On’s location was unveiled near Tiger Stadium.

Since 2003, Walk-On’s has expanded from a local Baton Rouge business to a franchise with over 75 restaurants across 13 states, as well as other locations that are expected to open in the near future.
