BATON ROUGE, La. (NBC Local 33) (FOX 44) — James Evans of Walker was killed while driving his motorcycle along LA Hwy 1024, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers were on the scene in Livingston Parish shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday. Investigators believe the crash happened as Evans was traveling westbound on a newer-model Harley Davidson Deluxe.
At the same time, a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling eastbound and for reasons still under investigation, Evans crossed the center line into the opposing lane where he was struck head-on by the Tahoe.
The 55-year-old was wearing a DOT approved helmet, however he sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. Evans was taken to the hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
No other injuries were reported. The driver of the Tahoe was given a chemical test and showed no signs of impairment.
The investigation is ongoing.
