The Walker Police Association wrote in a Facebook post that Walker Police Officer John Hanna suffered a stroke Friday morning, and the group is asking for prayers and organizing a fundraiser for Hanna’s family.

“John was transported to Ochsner in Baton Rouge then was sent by helicopter to Ochsner in New Orleans due to the brain bleed,” the post reads.

Hanna, who suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, was in stable condition and was able to speak after he arrived in New Orleans. He has not regained feeling in his right arm or left leg, according to the post.

No one is allowed to visit Hanna due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Hanna’s wife, Brooke, is able to talk to him multiple times each day via FaceTime.

The Walker Police Association, which was created to represent Walker Police Department employees and their families, indicated that it plans to start a fundraiser to help the Hanna family with medical costs.
