Patients at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans had a meet and greet like none before.
The children stepped out of the facility, going behind the scenes at Audubon Zoo to interact with three giraffes. They fed them carrots and even got a lick or two on the hand.
Organizers said the event is part of an effort to allow patients to walk the grounds of the zoo when it’s not open to help with their physical therapy. It’s an easy trek for the children with the hospital and zoo adjacent to one another.
