WATCH: Coast Guard lifts man from bulk carrier vessel during medical evacuation


The Coast Guard medevaced a man aboard a bulk carrier vessel, 230 nautical miles south of New Orleans, Louisiana, Tuesday. NEW ORLEANS, La. (BrProud) — The Coast Guard lifted a man from aboard a bulk carrier vessel during a medical evacuation 230 nautical miles south of New Orleans on Tuesday morning.

At 4:05 a.m. the Coast Guard received a request for the medical evacuation or “medevac” of a 53-year-old man showing signs of a possible heart attack.

Coast Guard District watchstanders directed a helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to medevac the man. The aircrew hoisted the man and transported him to New Orleans University Medical Center. The man is reportedly  in stable condition.
