BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – William F. Tate IV formally becomes the President of LSU on Friday, August 27.

The Presidential Investiture of William F. Tate IV is happening at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 27.

Tate became the first African American university President in the SEC earlier this summer.

A limited number of people are allowed to attend Friday’s historic event.

This is because of protocols surrounding COVID-19.

Specifically, the university has these protocols in place for this event:

Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test (within 5 days prior to event) will be required to attend. Health and safety protocols will be in place, due to COVID-19, including a mask requirement throughout the duration of the event. Attendees must adhere to the protocols outlined to minimize risk and mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Anyone attending in person is asked to wear business attire.

We will livestream this historic event at 1:30 p.m. in this story.
