PORT ALLEN, La. (BRPROUD) – When the principal of Port Allen Elementary School was asked to choose an exemplary student at their school, one of the first names that came to mind was second grader, Kennedy Wishom.

The mascot for Port Allen Elementary School is a Panda and Wishom is a Panda through and through earning A’s on her report card and helping motivate others to do their best.

So what does Kennedy do for fun?

The second grader enjoys reading, running track, playing soccer and singing with her dad.

Wishom loves her homeroom teacher, Mrs. Kirkwood because “she helps me prepare for tests and she is nice.”

Kennedy hails from Baton Rouge and is happy to be back at school in person during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mrs. Kirkwood had this to say about the exemplary second grader, “

“Kennedy is a star student at Port Allen Elementary and she is an evident leader in the second grade. Kennedy is always eager to learn new things and works hard in her studies day in and day out. One thing I admire about Kennedy is her strong desire to be the very best she can be at whatever she is doing at the time. From lending a helping hand to her classmates and teachers to exceeding teachers’ expectations in her school work, Kennedy Wishom is an exceptional student and we are so lucky to have her at PAE. I have high hopes for Kennedy’s future and I know she can accomplish anything she puts her mind to.”
