PORT ALLEN, La. (BRPROUD) – The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public about someone trying to pretend they are a member of the force.

WBRSO says, “Someone claiming to be “Sgt. Young” from the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office has been calling citizens soliciting funds in lieu of bench warrants, arrest warrants and requesting personal information.”

If there is a warrant out for your arrest, WBRSO already has all of the information they need about you.

To be clear, the “West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office does not use the practice of calling anyone and requesting personal information or funds to be paid.”

If (225) 434-5127 comes up on your phone, do not answer it. Answering this phone number could lead to you losing money.

Immediately call the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Main Telephone number at (225) 343-9234.

If you have a question about a warrant in WBR, you can also reach the WBRSO Warrant Division at (225) 343-9234.

WBRSO suggests that when getting a call from a phone number you do not recognize, search it online first before answering it.
