West Baton Rouge Parish to open COVID-19 testing site

West Baton Rouge Parish President Riley Berthelot Jr. announced that the parish will offer drive-thru COVID-19 testing at three sites over the next week.

Testing will take place Tuesday from 8 a.m. until noon at the Erwinville Community Center, located at 5110 Rougon Road in Port Allen.

Another round of testing is scheduled for Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon at Port Allen’s WBR Community Center, located at 749 N. Jefferson Ave.

An additional testing time will be Monday, May 18 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Addis Community Center, located at 7520 Hwy. 1 South in Addis.

Only people 18 years old or older can receive tests. No vehicles with pets inside will be allowed at the testing site, and participants are not permitted to leave their vehicles, as the tests will be self-administered within participants’ vehicles.

A doctor’s order is not required to receive a free test, according to West Baton Rouge Parish Public Information Officer Lynn Ewing.
