BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A Honda Accord was seen speeding on Burbank Dr. in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 4.

Jaylen White, 22, of St. Francisville, was caught going 20 mph over the speed limit.

The responding trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop but White did not comply.

A pursuit ensued on Ben Hur Rd. and it did not come to an end until White parked in the Red Point Apartment Complex.

The affidavit states that an officer with the Baton Rouge Police Department saw White’s vehicle go into the apartment complex.

White allegedly tried to hide behind the Honda before leading the BRPD officer on a foot chase.

The 22-year-old “ran across Ben Hur Rd. to the neighboring apartment complex,” according to the affidavit.

The trooper and officer both gave chase but could not find White.

By this time, multiple members of law enforcement had arrived at the scene.

One of them heard the passenger in White’s vehicle say, “what were you thinking?”

The passenger confirmed that Jaylen White was the driver of the Honda.

While law enforcement was at the scene, “a male matching White’s description appeared around the corner,” according to the affidavit.

Another foot chase took place and that came to an end when White was located under some stairs in the apartment complex.

The St. Francisville man was arrested around 50 minutes after the Honda was seen speeding on Burbank Dr.

The trooper suspected that White was impaired and the St. Francisville man was given a breath test.

The test result came back around two hours after his arrest with a BAC of 0.101g%.

The 22-year-old was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

White remains behind bars on the charges listed below:

  • Resisting An Officer
  • Flight From An Officer
  • Operating A Vehicle While Intoxicated
  • Reckless Operation Of A Vehicle

Bond has been set at $5,500 for Jaylen White.
