BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Capital area fire fighters are often called upon to assist in situations that don’t involve fires.

These skilled first responders may be needed to help during medical emergencies, hazardous materials emergencies, and certain traffic incidents.

This week, crews with the Baton Rouge Fire Department (BRFD) went above and beyond by helping a driver who was stranded on the side of the road.

BRFD says crews with Ladder 7 and Engine 14 happened to see the stranded motorist on the interstate and jumped into action by pushing the driver’s car to a nearby hotel.

At the hotel, the driver was able to safely place a call and summon assistance.

This is one of many incidents in which local firefighters went out of their way to help a citizen in need.
