NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A Louisiana woman was killed early Saturday in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 55. state police said.
Louisiana State Police said Hannah Mcallister, 23, of Hammond, was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-55 when she struck a sport utility vehicle.
The SUV was pushed off the road and it overturned and caught fire, investigators said.
After striking the SUV, Mcallister’s vehicle turned in front of another car traveling northbound that struck Mcallister’s vehicle on the passenger’s side.
Mcallister died as a result of her injuries, WVUE-TV reported.
There were no reports of any other injuries.
Impairment is suspected and a blood sample from Mcallister has been submitted to the state police crime lab for analysis.
