YMCA and Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank taking part in USDA Farmers to Families Food Boxes program

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Baton Rouge University Preparatory Elementary is going to be a busier than usual at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 12.

The YMCA sits right across the street from Baton Rouge University Preparatory Elementary and the youth organization is helping with the USDA Farmers to Families Food Boxes program.

According to the YMCA of the Capital Area, the Y is helping “distribute USDA Farmers to Families Food Boxes to be delivered by the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank to provide more than 300 combo boxes filled with meat, dairy and produce to children and families.”

Members of Baton Rouge University Preparatory Elementary can line up and drive through to pick up their food box.

The YMCA and Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank expect to give out 9,000 pounds of food on Friday.

Baton Rouge University Preparatory Elementary is located at 7802 Howell Blvd.
