BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The District 5 seat is no longer empty on the Baton Rouge Metro Council.

Darryl Hurst was appointed as interim councilman to represent District 5 during a special meeting on Wednesday.

The seat became open when Erika Green was elected judge last November. Hurst has said he will run for the seat during the March 26 election.

The winner of that election will serve in the seat until Green’s original term expires in 2024.
