BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A small business owner based in Lake Charles says he’s running for state treasurer.

Sulphur native Dustin Granger, a financial advisor and investment manager, announced his candidacy in a video on Tuesday.

“I’m running because it’s time for new ideas in Louisiana. For too long, our Treasurer’s duties have been mismanaged and politicized to the detriment of our people,” Granger said. “We’ve been making bad investments by putting all of our eggs in one basket at the expense of our environment, our economy, and the opportunity for future generations to thrive here at home.”

According to a release, Granger believes in lifting the ban on investing state funds with companies that embody Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance standards and divestment from BlackRock was harmful.
