BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A new smartphone application has been created to help users follow Legislature easier.

The President of the Senate Page Cortez and Speaker of the House Clay Schexnayder released the La Lege app on the opening day of the 2023 Regular Legislative Session. The app intends to put information from the Louisiana Legislature right at the user’s fingertips.

“The legislative process is important, but not everyone can come to be a part of it in person,” said Speaker Schexnayder. “This app is so easy to use and it gives users instant access to the work we’re doing for our constituents. It’s a great way to tap into the Legislature and follow bills of interest.”

The La Lege app holds information from both House and Senate websites in an accessible format. With the app, users can learn about members of the Legislature and watch floor meetings and debates as they’re decided.

“Giving the public a front-row seat during the Legislative Session from anywhere in the state is grassroots engagement at its best,” said President Cortez. “To see lawmakers in action, and hear debates when they’re happening is an experience that can be accessible to anyone, anytime.  This is a great example of legislators embracing technology to improve communication with their districts.”

The free La Lege app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play Store.
