BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin shares several April 30 election day reminders ahead of the municipal general election.

Early Voting Dates & Absentee Voting

  • Secretary Ardoin says early voting will take place on Saturday, April 16 through Saturday, April 23, excluding Sunday, April 17.
  • He says the deadline to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday, April 26 by 4:30 p.m. These ballots must be returned to the parish registrar of voters’ office by Friday, April 29 at 4:30 p.m.

Election Day Reminders

  • On Election Day, polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Ardoin reminds voters that anyone in line at 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
  • Before heading to the polls, voters can find their polling location and sample ballot by downloading the GeauxVote Mobile app or by visiting www.GeauxVote.com. The GeauxVote app can also be used to sign up for text alerts.
  • GeauxBot, a virtual voter assistance, can be used to access pertinent election information. To use GeauxBot, Ardoin says to visit voterportal.sos.la.gov or by selecting Elections and Voting on sos.la.gov.
  • Bring an ID to vote. Ardoin says accepted ID includes a Louisiana driver’s license, a Louisiana Special ID card, a generally recognized picture identification card with a name and signature such as a passport or digital license via LA Wallet.
