BATON ROUGE, La. (BR Proud) — Former State Representative Steve Carter advanced to a runoff race against East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Tuesday night, after garnering about 20 percent of the vote in November’s election.
Incumbent Sharon Weston Broome received approximately 48% of the vote, failing to secure the 50% plus one needed to win outright.
Carter and Broome have four weeks to campaign prior to the Dec. 5 runoff.
