BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The race for a judge seat on the 19th Judicial District Court may not be over just yet.

On Saturday, Republican Brad Myers defeated Republican Jordan Faircloth by two votes. Unofficial results from the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office show Myers got 6,073 votes to Faircloth’s 6,071.

On Sunday, Faircloth took to Facebook to say he’ll be filing for a recount.

“After 12,144 votes were tallied last night, we came up 2 votes short. Monday morning we will file for a recount. It’s common in a race this size to see a handful of votes change. Our goal is simply to make sure every eligible vote counts. Every vote matters. Thank you so much for your support” wrote Faircloth.

Myers will replace retired Judge William Morvant, serving out the remainder of his term until 2026.
