ZACHARY, La. (BRPROUD) – The Zachary Police Department responded to a reported shooting around 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 29.

The shooting took place on Lee St. and New Weis Rd.

Chief David McDavid confirms that a 11-year-old or 12-year-old was shot in the back.

The police chief believes this shooting took place because of a ‘beef’ between participants.

Chief McDavid described the participants as “street clowns.”

McDavid is frustrated because the police now have to investigate this shooting instead of preparing to the arrival of Hurricane Ida.

The investigation into this shooting is ongoing.
