ZACHARY, La. (NBC 33) (FOX 44) – A two-week investigation into sexual misconduct by a Northwestern middle school science teacher led to this moment.

“Don’t care what you heard. We have backed this school system and will continue to back this school system” said David Amhrein, Mayor of Zachary.

Zachary police say, Ellarea Silva, 34 reportedly had sex with a child, months before it was reported.

“A lot of the incidents happened during the summer time but were not at the school” said Zachary PD’s Chief David McDavid.

Evidence was discovered by the victim’s mother, two days before it was reported. According to Chief David Mcdavid, she wanted to be sure of what happened before speaking out.

“She didn’t want to go out and accuse a professional teacher of any wrongdoing unless there were evidence there” said McDavid.

He said, after going through thousands of pictures on the child’s phone. The images they found were startling.

“We begin working the case and looked at the phone. There were a lot of disturbing evidence on that phone.”

Zachary Community School District Superintendent, Scott Devillier said, the allegations do not represent his district and their jobs are to help the students, not harm them.

“We want to do the best we can to give them the opportunities to be successful in life and it is definitely our goal to make sure we do that. When people make decision that are not in accordance with our standards. Then we are going to address them harshly.”
