BATON ROUGE, La. (BRProud) — Donors raise a glass! The Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre (BRBT) is the latest area non-profit to announce adjustments to its annual fundraiser. While 2020 has brought plenty of unfortunate news, cheese and cocktail lovers can now rejoice with BRBT’s virtual Dancin’ at the Mansion event on Sunday, Aug. 30.
The main event for the day’s festivities is a Virtual Speakeasy Happy Hour with Tallulah Crafted Food and Wine Bar. For $40, supporters will reserve a kit that includes everything necessary to mix up two cocktails, as well as a curated meat and cheese board with accompaniments.
Ticketholders will then pick up their kit ahead of time at the Renaissance Hotel and join Tallulah connoisseurs at 5 p.m. via Zoom.
BRBT will supplement the tasting with free online classes earlier in the day, as well as never-before seen video performances of BRBT’s 2018-19 finale, Homecoming Dances.
The full day begins at 1 p.m., with a Facebook Live welcome from the organization’s directors on BRBT’s official page. The welcome will be followed by a Stretch & Relax Yoga class (suitable for all levels) at 1:15 p.m. and at 2:30 p.m., a virtual beginner’s Adult Ballet class.
From 3:30 p.m. – 9 p.m., the public may view the Youth Ballet’s performance of Sleeping Beauty’s Garland Dance and BRBT’s interpretation of Taylor Mitchell’s Tittle Tattle Ya Ya.
Also from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., supporters may bid on a bevy of online auction items. The public may preview the listings ahead of Aug. 30 and if interested, make a “Buy Now” purchase for 10% off the listed value. Items include outings, jewelry, spa packages, LSU memorabilia and more. No additional ticket purchase is necessary. The full list of items p for auction may be found here.
