BATON ROUGE, La. (BRProud) — The Baton Rouge Zoo will celebrate it’s 50th anniversary throughout the month of June with discounted admission. Every Wednesday from 2-4 p.m., guests may enjoy “50 cent admission” for all ages.
BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo opened on Easter Sunday in 1970, when admission was less than $1.00. “This is one more way we are honoring this major milestone and saying, ‘thank you’ to the community who helped us get there,” said zo director Phil Frost. “We are thrilled to be celebrating our role in connecting people with wildlife and wild places since the Zoo first opened 50 years ago.”
The zoo reopened to the public on May 21 and has enacted increased safety measures to keep staff, guests and animals safe as the coronavirus pandemic plays out.
