FREE face mask drive-thrus in Baton Rouge: April 24-25

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Community leaders across the Greater Baton Rouge area will give out thousands of cloth masks April 24-25. Distributors suggest residents arrive early as the drive-thru locations will operate only until supplies last.

Friday, April 24

From 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., Murphy Law Firm, in partnership with Rock N Roll Sushi and Youth Committee BR, will distribute 20,000 masks and 10,000 gloves.

Saturday, April 25

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Murphy Law Firm will hold their second consecutive day of their mask and gloves giveaway. Materials are available until 3 p.m. or when supplies last, whichever comes first.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Councilwoman Tara Wicker will distribute 1,000 cloth masks. Wicker is partnering with Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Allbrands.com owner John Douthat, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and Down to the Wire Event Planning.

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Livingston Parish officials will hand out cloth masks at a variety of locations across the parish. The items are available until supplies last.

French Settlement Police Department, 16015 Hwy 16, French Settlement

Fire District #5 (3 locations), 8098 Florida Blvd. and 31747 Myers Road and 25500 Hwy 16 South, Denham Springs

Mandy’s Primary Healthcare, Oak Point Shopping Center, Watson

First Baptist Church, 29401 South Frost Road, Livingston

In the near future, recipients provided food and services from the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and East Baton Rouge Council on Aging will have access to more than 28,500 cloth masks, made possible by East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome. No word yet on the exact date or how recipients will begin to receive the masks.

The Mayor’s Office will also provide thousands of masks to the East Baton Rouge School System, in support of the student feeding program. Five hundred masks will be given to each of the 23 nursing homes in the parish. Cloth masks will also be distributed to area hospitals and all first responders.

Deputies will be distributing masks at the sheriff’s office command post, which is located in the parking lot of the St. Francisville IGA, at the corner of LA 10 and US 61

Monday April 27

Galvez-Lake Fire Department from 5pm to 7pm.

Town of Sorrento – Masks will be distributed to the homes of residents over the age of 60 or those with special needs.

City of Donaldsonville – Lemman Center.

Gonzales at T Joe Park from noon until gone.

Prairieville Fire Station #30, 14517 LA 73.

Prairieville Fire at Franks Restaurant – 17425 Airline Highway

St. Amant Fire Station 62, 14337 Highway 431 St. Amant.

Geismar Fire Station 80, 12171 Highway 73.

7th District Fire Station 70, 13337 N. Highway 44.

5th Ward Fire Station – Fire District #1 at 13192 Airline Highway.

Clinton Early Learning Center from 10 a.m. to noon

Slaughter Elementary from 10 am to noon

Jackson High School in Jackson 10 am to noon
