While people have been spending more time at home since the coronavirus pandemic, the majority of Americans have been turning to the margarita as their go-to cocktail. That’s according to a new survey from Censuswide, commissioned by Cointreau.

The survey found 54% of Americans agree the margarita is the quintessential summer cocktail and 70% say ‘cocktail hour’ has become a part of their weekly routine over the past three months.

Additional results of the survey uncovered:

  • 53% look forward to enjoying cocktails and cocktail hours each week
  • Nearly 7 in 10 respondents enjoy frozen cocktails
  • 56% said a frozen cocktail makes them feel like they’re on vacation
  • 59% said they enjoy making margaritas while grilling
