BATON ROUGE, La (BRProud.com) — Southern University announced Kevin Johnson as their new basketball coach a little under a month ago.
Since then, Johnson has endured plenty of sleepless nights.
“The good kind, though,” said Johnson.
Ideas to help the Jaguars on and off the court continue to occupy his mind and distract him from sleep. The early results of his work are already apparent in the three commitments he secured via the transfer portal and high school signees.
Tai’reon Joseph, a former Scotlandville High School star, comes to the Bluff from East Central Community College and also previously played at Radford University. His average of 26.1 PPG ranked second in the country amongst all NCJAA players.
Derrick Tezeno, a Melville, Louisiana native, played the past two seasons at Steven F. Austin. He competed in 55 games for the Lumberjacks.
Delang Muon, is a 2023 high school recruit out of Grace Baptist Academy in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. He’s an athletic 6’8 Australian native.
