Baton Rouge, La. (BRPROUD) – LSU tight end Mason Taylor was named to the Mackey Award Watch List on Wednesday.

Taylor is one of nine tight-end recipients to be featured on the watch list. The best in college football gets the Mackey Award.

Taylor is entering his sophomore season. In 2022, Taylor played a pivotal role in LSU’s offense and ended the year with 38 receptions for 414 yards and three touchdowns. He set multiple LSU records in his debut season in Baton Rouge and will look to continue that momentum heading into this season.

The Plantation, Florida, native will be recognized for years to come for his game-winning two-point conversion as the Tigers upended the Crimson Tide, 32-31, to take control of the SEC West last season.

Taylor isn’t the only LSU football player that has earned national recognition this preseason as running back, Josh Williams, was the latest Tiger to be named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List on Tuesday.

The next college football national award will be the Dick Butkus Award Watch List on Aug. 7.
