BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels and linebacker Harold Perkins landed on the Walter Camp Award Watch List posted Friday.
Daniels and Perkins are two of 45 college football players to be named to the watch list. The Walter Camp Award is presented to the best college football player in the nation.
Daniels is entering his senior season. In 2022, Daniels was one of college football’s top quarterbacks. He finished the season with 2,913 passing yards, 17 touchdowns and three interceptions. Daniels is also the leading rusher for the Tigers as he has 186 carries for 885 yards and 11 touchdowns, according to LSU Sports.
Perkins is coming off a sensational 2022 freshman campaign and is looked at as one of the best players on the defensive side of the ball. He made an instant impact on LSU’s defense in his debut season in Baton Rouge. During the 2022 season, Perkins had 72 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and one interception, according to LSU.
The LSU football duo also earned national recognition earlier this month. Daniels was named on the Davey O’Brien Quarterback Award Preseason Watch List and Perkins was named to the Butkus Award Preseason Watch List.
LSU is set to open the 2023 season against Florida State in Orlando, Florida on Sept. 3.
