BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A former LSU football legend was named as the representative for the university as a 2023 SEC football legend.
James Britt, an All-American cornerback, had a sensational career with the Tigers before he spent five seasons in the National Football League. According to LSU Athletics, Britt was one of five players to earn Academic All-America and All-America honors in the history of the LSU football program.
Britt will join 13 stars from each of the respective SEC schools in this year’s class during the “Weekend of Champions” Dec. 1-2 in Atlanta. The group consists of All-Americans, All-SEC selection, Academic All-Americans and NFL standouts, according to LSU Athletics.
According to LSU Athletics, during his career in Baton Rouge, Britt compiled 209 tackles and nine interceptions as a member of the Tiger defense. He also earned All-SEC honors during his senior season in 1982.
Britt also will be honored during the game between LSU and Auburn on Saturday, Oct. 14.
