NEW ORLEANS, LA (BRPROUD) – The Saints were back in full pads Monday morning for Day 12 of training camp.

This week, the Saints will cut the roster down to 53 as the deadline approaches Saturday at 3pm central time.

Running back Alvin Kamara was absent from practice again. This marks the third straight practice Kamara has been absent.

Head coach Sean Payton was asked if the absence was injury related and he said “no, I really don’t want to get into that at this time, nor would I relative to Malcolm (Jenkins) or any of the players that haven’t practiced.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Kamara’s absence has to do with his rookie contract ending after the 2020 season.

Offensive guard Andrus Peat and linebacker Anthony Chickillo returned to practice.

Aside from Kamara and Jenkins, Saquan Hampton, Chase Hansen, Garrett Griffin, Cesar Ruiz, Zack Baun, Patrick Omameh, Marcus Davenport were all absent as well.

The Saints will have the day off tomorrow.
