NEW ORLEANS, La. (WDSU) — The wife of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees took to Instagram in an emotional post, reflecting on her husband’s injury-ridden season.

In the post, Brittany Brees outlines not only the broken ribs Brees suffered that caused him to miss six weeks of the season, but she also points out a foot injury and torn rotator cuff.

Brittany said in the post that this has been her family’s hardest year of their lives.

She said she has been crying for days, but expressed how proud she was of Drew for his resilience.

“He did not complain once,” the post read.

Brittany concluded the post by saying that although the year was hard it was all part of God’s plan, and thanked him for being a great role model for their children.

“Your children have watched you handle it all with integrity, grace and the most amazing work ethic. We are so proud of you,” the post read.

Brees is likely to retire and work as a sports analyst for NBC in 2022.

He has not officially made a retirement announcement.
