METAIRIE, La. (BRPROUD) – Jameis Winston tweaked his right foot on Day 11 of training camp in 7-on-7 drills. Head coach Dennis Allen confirms that the same foot is sprained.

The quarterback is now on a day-to-day basis and will not play in the Saints’ first preseason opener against the Texans on Saturday, but Allen and the trainers do not feel like this is a significant injury.

“Basically, kind of sprained his foot a little bit yesterday he’s really day today I don’t think it’s going to be that big of a challenge but certainly we’re going to make sure we get him back healthy before we put them back out there we’re not gonna get into a big discussion on this but he’s here day today and I think it’ll be a couple days and here we go,” said New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen.

“He is consistent day in and day out to me his hard work is different he really is here first and leaves last and just trying to work out with him he really really puts in work we’re locker buddies in there we talk about life we talk about football and he just cares about football 24/7,” said New Orleans Saints quarterback Ian Book.

Winston was not in attendance at practice on Tuesday. Allen is comfortable knowing he has Andy Dalton as a backup if needed. Dalton looks confident and has played well throughout the first few weeks of camp.
